Qualcomm Names Dr. Young Koo Cha SVP and President of Qualcomm Korea

- Sung Woo Kim Retires After More than 10 Years at Qualcomm -

SAN DIEGO, June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies, products and services, today announced the appointment of Dr. Young Koo Cha as the new senior vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm Korea. Dr. Cha replaces Dr. Sung Woo Kim who is retiring from Qualcomm in his position as senior vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm Korea.

Dr. Cha will work closely with Jim Doh, senior vice president and president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies Korea/Taiwan/Japan.

Dr. Cha is currently a visiting professor at the Graduate Institute for Peace (GIP) at the Kyung Hee University in Korea. He was Senior Executive Advisor of Pantech Inc., and visiting professor at the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) at the Seoul National University (SNU) from 2004 to 2006. Prior to that, he was former Deputy Minister for Policy of the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea (ROK) from October 2001 through April 2004. Dr. Cha retired from Korean military as Lieutenant General. He is currently serving as the Executive Director for Korea America Association (KAA).
