Qualcomm Donates Funds to China's Yunnan Earthquake Relief

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that it has donated $325,000 to assist in earthquake relief efforts in China's Yunnan Province. Qualcomm has committed the funds to Charities Aid Foundation of America (CAF America) who has made a grant from their fund to the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) at the Company's suggestion.

"Qualcomm is deeply saddened by the loss of life, injuries and destruction caused by the recent earthquake in China's Yunnan Province. We extend our deepest sympathies and support to those affected," said Xiang Wang, SVP and president of Qualcomm Greater China. "This contribution is in the hope for a quick recovery of the impacted areas."

CAF America is a global grantmaking organization assisting corporations, foundations, and individuals. They help donors support great causes by assisting them in making strategic and effective grants internationally and domestically.

China Youth Development Foundation's main programs focus on rural education, including school construction, teacher training, student scholarships, and school-based nutrition programs. It also works on improving rural health infrastructure, environmental awareness and disaster relief.  In response to the Yunnan province earthquake, CYDF has launched "Project Hope Emergency Relief Action Fund" to help youth and their families affected by the earthquake.
